Matchplay results report June 2012 for Singles

Behrouz Shahandeh Vs. J.S. Lee 4&2

Brunn, Saturday 2 June ‐ After halving the 15th to go dormy three, Behrouz
Shahandeh parred the 16th to win the hole and close out the match for a
4&2 victory over Jae Sung Lee. The match was played in a very friendly
atmosphere in perfect golfing conditions in spite of the early morning rain
which had threatened to spoil the day.

The match had been evenly balanced and all square after 6 holes. Playing
error‐free steady golf tee‐to‐green, Behrouz put together wins on holes 7, 8
and 10, to go three up. The par‐three ninth had been halved with pars.
However, Jae mounted a fight‐back and capitalizing on strokes received
won the next two holes to reduce the difference to just one up for Behrouz.
But this was short‐lived and a wayward drive by Jae allowed Behrouz to
cruise to a par on the 13th and take a two‐hole advantage, which he
subsequently increased to three up winning the 14th.

Jae's putting, which had been red‐hot all day, helped him to half the 15th
thus extending the match. But Jae's second shot on the 16th found the
bunker while Behrouz was on the fringe of the green with his second. And
Behrouz's chip and putt for par was good enough to win the hole and the
match for a 4&2 win.

B. Bush Vs. R. Beatty 2 up

On a hot and balmy day in GC Brunn, Randy and Bill drove left of the
fairway on the first hole. Randy ended up on the green in three and Bill in
four, Randy three putted for a six and Bill one putted for a five, which
portended for each player the flavour of the match. Neither putted nor
chipped well. Randy won the second hole, the only hole that Bill got a
stroke, to go all square. We were all square at the turn, when suddenly
Randy was two up after eleven. Ouch! Bill scratched his way back to be all
square on the seventeenth tee and finished par, par to win two up. We
then both birdied the nineteenth hole with a pair of quenching drinks.
